why we kept it

two brothers, our wives, our kids, and a lot of drawings we couldn’t bring ourselves to throw away.

between the four of us, family has always been at the center of the things we build.

and like most parents, we kept saving little drawings, notes and sketches that slowly disappeared into cupboards, folders and boxes.

we were keeping them.

we just weren’t really seeing them.

some things deserve better than the closet.
we tried folders. boxes. even printed magnets. but what we really wanted to keep was the actual thing they made.
the crooked lines. the tiny handwriting. the colors they chose. the paper they brought home proudly.
because the objects that remain are usually the ones worth making.

then we found a simpler way.
a format that lets you keep the actual drawing, note or photo in sight.
no reprinting. no redesigning. just the little thing, as it was made. onto the fridge.
still theirs.
that became keptit.
not because we invented something new.
because we understood the problem.
too many little things get saved somewhere and slowly disappear.
we wanted a simple way to keep a few of them around.
and we thought other families might want that too.
